A skillshare is a simple concept: People gather in a space like a church, coffee shop or community center and teach each other about topics they’re passionate about and that meet a community need — like cooking, self-care, or bike maintenance. Skill sharing workshops are built on the premise that everyone has something valuable to teach and learn. They dismantle traditional hierarchies of education and create a democratic space where knowledge flows freely without the constraints of formal qualifications or societal status.
This Notion page exists as a respository for SWMA’s skillshare work and reference information. We also discuss skillshare on our slack channel ‣
We come together to build accessible infrastructure and resources that facilitate the exchange of knowledge within SWMA, our beautiful neighborhoods, and the larger NYC community.
We envision a world where all of our neighbors have access to the knowledge, skills, and resources they need to be empowered, purposeful, and caring members of our community.
