In September 2024 we started Orientations to help folks figure out how to best plug in and join SWMA.

Roles for Orientation

1. Orientation Presenter/Leader - 1-2 members
   1. Lead the power Point Presentation, update ppt as needed
   2. Encourage folks to join Slack and start engaging with existing projects
   3. Figure out tech situation for presentation
2. Support Member - Unlimited members
   1. Help with welcoming new members, set up, and giving input during prestation
   2. encouraged to attend happy hour and socialize with new member
3. Location Scout - 1 Member
   1. Secure location of orientation and Happy Hour, make reservation if needed
   2. Keep accessibility and covid safety in mind
      1. Past locations include Melting Cups, Alewife, Solid State
      2. Wild Goose and Moore Jackson have offered space for future meetings
         1. Schedule upcoming orientations, updating slack group
4. Promotion - Unlimited members
   1. Create updated graphic in SWMA Canva account
   2. Post on Bluesky, Instagram
   3. Flyer in Neighborhood
5. Respiratory Health Deputy (is there a better name for this lol?) - 1-2 members
   1. Bring masks and encourage folks to wear them
   2. Bring air filters, other devices to help with air purity

Current Notes on planning - Feb 2025

1. Keeping with the tradition of monthly happy hours first Friday of the month. do orientation before Happy Hour
2. In light of the current political situation, extra orientation each month same week as Happy Hour.
   1. We should gauge each month if how many we feel we should be doing.
   2. We have done orientations every other month, monthly, and twice a month. Lets aim to be flexible, respect our capacity, and also meet the moment.
3. If we are doing two a month, one should be virtual but followed with in-person option

Current Protocol - As of February 2025

1. Two weeks before Monthly Happy Hour, post in slack and assign roles
2. Ideally, all roles and location will be secure week before orientation(s)
3. Promote orientation(s) as soon as we have location
