Our mindset around these kits is that everyone deserves care, and right now care is especially meaningful when sick or at risk of being sick. Every week the folks working to assemble can make decisions based on community feedback as well as what they have time and bandwidth for.
- The items below will be in labeled bins on the black shelves near our food stores.
- The items can go in Ziploc or produce bags (these are on the shelves with pantry food). They can go in paper sacks if they are stapled shut and labeled and small signs are made to list what is inside (in English and Spanish). These bags are all located on the two shelving units to the left and right nearest the red doors to the outside.
- Markers, staplers, and scissors are in a bin on the black shelving units.
- Please wear gloves (there are plenty on the shelves for us)
- They are sorted into FreshDirect bags as follows:
- Woodside Houses: Blue (blueberries)
- 61st Street: Peach (peaches)(orange if there's not enough peach)
- At the end of the shift, please record on the inventory sheets in the colored binders (blue and orange) for each pantry what you packed and post the list to Slack. Put the binders in bags before leaving (so they will go out to the pantries with everything else).
- If you notice we are low on stock (including of bags, etc.), please share with the group and help us get back on track by placing an order or going for a supply run!
- Please help try to keep the pantry space clean and organized. If you see a better way to organize, feel free to change things around!
Ordering supplies
- Supplies can be bought from OfficeSupply.com or any store and expensed through Open Collective. The current balance available can be checked here.
- Currently we get masks and sanitizer from New York Test and Trace (via email; they are open for pick up from 10am-4pm on weekdays. Search "nytt" in email). (For email access see this page; contact an aid coordinator if you need help getting access.)
- We currently buy pads, tampons, and adult diapers from OfficeSupply.com.
- We have enough in the budget to buy one more item for each pantry for one week per month (deodorant, toothbrushes, etc.)
- We also put out asks for 100x specific items on Instagram to stock pantries for one week. Donations can be sent to P.O. Box 771065, Woodside NY 11377. Contact @Jackie S for PO Box access.
